Community Action Duluth expanded again last year to offering free tax preparation on Monday and Wednesday afternoons in addition to evening and morning sessions already offered. We again offered free child care for people who were getting their taxes done. At the West Duluth site were credit counselors from LSS Financial Services who could pull free credit reports for our customers and met with them individually to review their reports and discuss ways they could improve their credit. |

The Express Refund Loan and Savings Program was offered again last year with our partners at Northern Communities Credit Union. This program allowed our customers to get the federal part of their refund usually within 24 hours of getting their taxes done, at a very low cost. Everyone receiving an Express Loan also received a free savings account at Northern Communities Credit Union which is conveniently located across from the Memorial tax site or at the Government Services Building downtown. We also offered savings accounts to anyone at the tax site even customers who did not choose to get an Express Loan. This service has enabled our customers who did not have any savings account to take a step toward financial stability.
