Farmers Markets for Summer 2023

There are great programs available at the market that can help folks stretch their dollar! SNAP participants using an EBT card can receive an extra $25 in matching market bucks when they swipe their card for $15. The EBT matching program allowed over 180 SNAP participants to more than double their purchasing power at the market last year! Over $17,500 in EBT tokens and matching market bucks were spent at the market in 2022! The Power of Produce (PoP) program offers $4 in tokens to elders over 60 and kids under 18 to spend on produce! The PoP program distributed over $8,800 dollars to youth and elders last year! This money was spent on fresh fruits and veggies provided by local small business owners. New for the 2023 season, our markets feature live music and kids activities at every market. We are also happy to announce a free Gentle Movement at the Market series where folks of all abilities can enjoy a gently take on yoga and tai ji. Find our markets!: Central Hillside (https://www.facebook.com/HillsideFarmersMarket/) Tuesdays 2-5 pm Essentia Health Campus, 5th Ave & 3rd St Lincoln Park (https://www.facebook.com/LincolnParkFarmersMarket/) Thursdays 3-6 pm Harrison Park - 3002 W 3rd St

A summer farmers market helps support local growers and keeps communities connected around food and sustainability. I’ve attended a few myself and always walk away with both fresh produce and inspiration. If you’re considering organizing a similar market in Singapore, real estate rent has listings that could support pop-up markets or open vendor spaces. Access to land or venues is a big step toward growing food access.
